Governor's Proclamation

Whereas, because our children are our most cherished treasures, we must do everything possible to ensure that they have the resources they need to learn, develop, and achieve their greatest potential; and
Whereas, when started in childhood, good health, safety, and environmental habits can be maintained for a lifetime; and
Whereas, Kids Day America/International is a special day set aside to educate families and communities about health, safety, and environmental issues; and
Whereas, during this annual observance, doctors of chiropractic across South Carolina and the nation, along with local law enforcement, fire department, and other public officials, join together to offer free child ID cards and fingerprinting, spinal health screenings, and educational information about crime and fire prevention, health promotion and disease prevention, and environmental awareness issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark Sanford, Governor of the Great State of South Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 14, 2005, as
Kids Day America / International
throughout the state and encourage all South Carolinians to work together to educate our children about health, safety, and environmental issues.
